My 2019 Reading Round-Up

I’m making this post later than I planned but better late than never.

2019 was a crazy, hectic, fantastic mess. For those who don’t know, I had a baby (baby #3), released book 6 and the conclusion in my blood & magic series, and managed both of those things while working a full time job and taking care of two other kiddos and you know, making time for my husband on occasion.

So it’s safe to say that 2019 was pretty busy and unfortunately, this blog suffered. I didn’t have time to post reviews for all of the amazing books I read but I did want to at least do a round up and let you guys know what I read and which books I loved the most.

I read roughly 69 books (that I remember) and 2019 was the year of falling in love with several new to me authors. I also got back into reading contemporary romance. I usually stick pretty close to Urban Fantasy and Paranormal Romance reads but I guess for 2019 I decided to shake things up.

My MOST READ authors for 2019 were…

Annette Marie– She probably took the cake for THE most. I read Four Shifters and a Stranger, Slaying Monsters for the Feeble, Unleash the Storm, The Alchemist and an Amaretto, Feed the Flames, Reap the Shadows, Yield the Night, Bind the Soul, Chase the Dark, Demon Magic and a Martini, Dark arts and a Daiquiri, Two witches and a whisky, Three Mages and a Margarita, and Taming Demons for Beginners. That’s 14 Annette Marie books in one year.

I also fell in LOVE with LJ Shen. Thanks to a facebook recommendation from Laura Thalassa (thank you for that!), I read Midnight Blue, In the Unlikely Event, Pretty Reckless, Broken Knight, Sparrow, Bane, Scandalous, Vicious, Defy, Ruckus, and The Kiss Thief. (That makes 11)

Since I already mentioned Laura Thalassa, I binged her a bit as well. Dark Harmony, A strange Hymn, Rhapsodic, The Fallen World Series (3 books), War, and Pestilence. (8 books total from her)

Jerica Macmillan is a good friend of mine and I went a little overboard with her books as well. I usually don’t read my friends books. It’s weird and I don’t like them reading mine either but she was visiting and talking about one of her upcoming releases and it had a secret baby and was a second chance romance and her talking about it made me want to read it so I did…and then I kept reading her stuff. It happens and they were all epic. I read Close Quarters, Shouldn’t want you, Anything you need, and Everything I want.

Some new favorites of mine became Roxie Noir’s Loveless Brother’s series | Ember Leigh’s Bayshore Books. | TA White’s Broken Lands series | Donna Augustine’s Wyrd Blood series | and Siobhan Davis’s Rydville Elite series. This one was a friend recommendation from author Jenn (author J.A. Owenby) and I am so glad I read them They’re dark and sexy and wonderful.

Obviously there are more books I read and more authors I tried but the above list are my absolute favorites.

I listened to Repeat by Kylie Scott in audio and it was amazing. I don’t see anything else in that series so I haven’t tried one of her other books yet. I tend to be a series follower over being an author followerer, but she’s on my list for 2020. I also really enjoyed Breaker by Harloe Rae, Devious Lies by Parker S. Huntington, The Hidden by Ivy Asher, Radience and Eidolon by Grace Draven, Nevermore by Dannika Dark, and Sapphire Flames by Ilona Andrews.

If I mentioned it above, it was a five star read. So if you want to try something new, take your pick from the above. They were all fantastic!!!
