The Blood and Magic series gets a face lift

Hey Everyone! If you’re in my facebook group then you’ve already seen some hints that the Blood and Magic series is getting a facelift.

Why you might ask? Well, I wanted to try something new. I’m personally a huge fan of my original covers. See they’re very pretty.

BUT there are a few things that I don’t love about them. Mainly, the model. I don’t feel like she reflects the Aria that’s in my mind and unfortunately, we have very limited images of her that are useable… see the example below.

She’s very cutesy. If you’ve read my books then you know that Aria is not cutesy. So thanks to photoshop, we’ve been chopping off her head and putting it on another model body but it’s still hard because most of the model expressions have big smiles so if you haven’t noticed, we used the exact same model head on books 1, 2, and 4.

Now, the new covers still have some pretty heavy photo manipulation. I used a model head and a different body and added hair and all sorts of other photoshop magic but these ones FIT Aria.

So…you want to see what they look like right?

Now I feel like she looks like the snarky bad ass heroine we all know and love.

Want to see some of the behind the scenes stuff? I thought you would.

This was where it all started. I’m also a lot happier with these covers because I made them. I made the cover for the original Branded by Fire as well but the first 3 were done by other designers. They did great work and as I mentioned earlier, I do love them, but there is just something about having all the control. I’m a bit of a control freak 😀

I know many of you have print copies of the earlier books though so don’t fret. I’ll make sure both versions are available in print in case you’d like them to match.

So what do you think? Do you prefer the old or the new?

And if you’d like to grab the book, you can do that HERE
